Beef & Lentil Patties

Ingredients:

  • 500g Mince (Beef / any preferred red meat)
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 Cup Lentils (dried)
  • 2 Cups Water
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Vegetable Oil (Doesn't matter what kind)

Optional Extras:

  • Mixed Herb Spices (ie: Origanum, Coriander, etc.)
  • Worcestershire Sauce
  • Soy Sauce

Note: Remember not to add too much extra liquid as this will cause the patties to fall apart.

Steps:

  1. Place Lentils and water in a pot on the stove and allow to boil until Lentils are very soft.
  2. Drain out all excess water from cooked lentils, set aside.
  3. Place mince in a bowl.
  4. Add lentils, eggs, salt & pepper (and optional extras)
  5. Mix until completely combined (I find a masher works well for this)
  6. Place a pan on stove top with oil to heat up.
  7. once hot, spoon patty mixture directly onto pan, Use the spoon or a spatula to shape it into a circle.
  8. Allow to cook until crisp is visible on the edge.
  9. Flip and wait until cooked all the way through.
  10. Enjoy!

Note: If you find the surface of the patty is burning before it gets a chance to cook through, try turning down the heat of your stove or decrease the thickness of the patty.

Serves: 8 - 10 Patties (depending on patty size)
