Ingredients:
- 500g Mince (Beef / any preferred red meat)
- 2 Eggs
- 1 Cup Lentils (dried)
- 2 Cups Water
- Salt & Pepper
- Vegetable Oil (Doesn't matter what kind)
Optional Extras:
- Mixed Herb Spices (ie: Origanum, Coriander, etc.)
- Worcestershire Sauce
- Soy Sauce
Note: Remember not to add too much extra liquid as this will cause the patties to fall apart.
Steps:
- Place Lentils and water in a pot on the stove and allow to boil until Lentils are very soft.
- Drain out all excess water from cooked lentils, set aside.
- Place mince in a bowl.
- Add lentils, eggs, salt & pepper (and optional extras)
- Mix until completely combined (I find a masher works well for this)
- Place a pan on stove top with oil to heat up.
- once hot, spoon patty mixture directly onto pan, Use the spoon or a spatula to shape it into a circle.
- Allow to cook until crisp is visible on the edge.
- Flip and wait until cooked all the way through.
- Enjoy!
Note: If you find the surface of the patty is burning before it gets a chance to cook through, try turning down the heat of your stove or decrease the thickness of the patty.
Serves: 8 - 10 Patties (depending on patty size)
